*Probate is the process that follows the death of an individual.
What happens during probate?
* A case is opened in the Probate Court by an attorney and the will, if there is one, is filed.
*An estate can be probated without a will, but it is called an administration.
*If there is a will, an executor is appointed. If there is not a will, an administrator is appointed.
* One of the executor's jobs is to make sure the property in the estate is distributed properly.
*The bills and taxes of the person who died are paid.
*The assets of the person who died are organized and passed on to the persons named in the will.
