Are you experiencing problems with the *Department of Children & Families?

We can help with all problems related to the Massachusetts Department of Children & Families (formerly the Department of Social Services) or other social service agencies anywhere in the United States.  Attorney McCarthy has dedicated the last fifteen years of his twenty-five year legal career helping parents, children and grandparents navigate the dangerous waters everyone encounters when dealing with the Department of Children & Families.  Attorney McCarthy has extensive trial experience and has represented clients at all phases of DCF involvement and at all levels of the court process.  He has even helped shaped the course of parental rights law in Massachusetts representing clients in the Massachusetts Appeals Court and the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court.  His published appellate cases can be viewed by clicking here.

The Act changes the name of the Department of Social Services (DSS) to the Department of Children and Families (DCF.)  The Act also creates the Office of the Child Advocate

How much wil it cost?

For all trial matters this office can only accept cases where a large retainer is paid in advance.  For less time consuming matters a smaller retainer may be accepted.  Cases will be billed on an hourly basis.  Clients can expect to pay at least $300.00 per hour plus expenses for all DCF matters.  A legal team, an additional attorney and expert witnesses can be arranged at an additional cost.  In court hours and appeals are billed at a higher rate.  DCF matters are very complicated and since parental rights are at stake many hours must be spent to effectively represent a person with DCF trouble.  This office knows how traumatizing it is to have a child taken away, we give our clients personalized service and attention.
